Tooth Decay & Repair

Plaque

Plaque is an almost colorless bacteria that forms on the teeth. It can be prevented by brushing and flossing regularly.

Minor Decay- Cavities are commonly located between teeth and on chewing surfaces.

Advanced Decay- The decay has moved deeper into the tooth.

Fillings

Fillings- To restore the function of the tooth, the place of decay is filled with composite resin, amalgam, or gold.

Crowns

Crowns are used on teeth with advanced decay and on badly damaged, chipped, discolored, or misaligned teeth.

After the tooth is shaped into a base for the crown, an impression is made of the tooth, and a temporary crown is put in place

On your return visit, the new custom-made crown is cemented in place. Crowns are made from metal, porcelain or a combination of both.

Root Canal

Root Canal -The pulp becomes damaged and infection spreads to the tissue and bones. abscess forms at the root.

After the tooth is numbed, the pulp is removed and the chamber and roots are then cleaned out, enlarged and shaped.

Once the tooth is clean and free of infection the pulp chamber and root canals are filled with a rubber like material.

Finally the tooth is filled.
